Posted: 27 Oct 2008 07:40 AM CDT These monasteries are located in Meteora, Greece and the word ‘Meteora’ literally means ’suspended in air' as they are built high on top of cliffs and mountains. There are a total of 24 monasteries found here and if you wanted to visit them, then you better not be afraid of heights. There are NO steps leading to these monasteries, not to mention lifts or elevators. The main means of access? Through a net that was hung over a hook and hoisted up by rope and a manual windlass to towers overhanging the scary chasm beneath. Monks descended in the nets or on wooden ladders to the valleys below to grow potatoes, corn and grapes. Wonder if they have WIFI there…

Americans vs. Japanese Boat Race Posted: 27 Oct 2008 07:24 AM CDT The Americans and the Japanese decided to engage in a competitive boat race. Both teams practiced hard and long to reach their peak performance. On the big day they felt ready. The Japanese won by a mile. Afterward, the American team was discouraged by the loss. Morale sagged. Corporate management decided that the reason for the crushing defeat had to be found, so a consulting firm was hired to investigate the problem and recommended corrective action. The consultant’s finding: The Japanese team had eight people rowing and one person steering; the American team had one person rowing and eight people steering. After a year of study and millions spent analyzing the problem, the consultant firm concluded that too many people were steering and not enough were rowing on the American team. So as race day neared again the following year, the American team’s management structure was completely reorganized. The new structure: four steering managers, three area steering managers and a new performance review system for the person rowing the boat to provide work incentive. The next year, the Japanese won by two miles. Humiliated, the American corporation laid off the rower for poor performance and gave the managers a bonus for discovering the problem. |

Jeanene Fox has Beauty and Brains Posted: 27 Oct 2008 07:08 AM CDT One of the few hot models from Nissau, Bahamas, Jeanene Fox is a mix of Bahamian, Canadian and Italian descent. Due to her thin frame, she was teased and nick-named ‘Bean-Pole Jeanene’ in her school days. Guess we know who has the last laugh now! She was discovered at age 15 and her career as a model has skyrocketed ever since, taking it all the way to the US. But don’t think that this gorgeous chick is all body and no brains. She graduated at the top of her class with a GPA of 4.0 with MULTIPLE degrees in Apparel Manufacturing and International Business!! Bet she is smarter than most of you here (probably as smart as me :P)!

Posted: 27 Oct 2008 07:00 AM CDT Joan, who was a rather well-proportioned secretary, spent almost all of her vacation sunbathing on the roof of her hotel. She wore a bathing suit the first day, but on the second, she decided that no one could see her way up there, and she slipped out of it for an overall tan. She'd hardly begun when she heard someone running up the stairs. She was lying on her stomach, so she just pulled a towel over her rear. "Excuse me, miss," said the flustered assistant manager of the hotel, out of breath from running up the stairs. "The Hilton doesn't mind your sunbathing on the roof, but we would very much appreciate your wearing a bathing suit as you did yesterday." "What difference does it make?" Joan asked rather calmly. "No one can see me up here, and besides, I'm covered with a towel." "Not exactly," said the embarrassed man. "You're lying on the dining room skylight." |
